As you can see I’m pretty pale and have red cheeks and some other red areas. So I figured that most of this stuff since it’s in this seasons pallet (warm and sun-kissed tones, soft peachy pinks and bold corals – description directly from Influenster!) it would probably either wash me out or just look garish on me. I was pleasantly surprised though!

I started out by putting on my conceler like I normally do, and skipped over using my normal powder to try out the translucent powder. I don’t know about anyone else’s experience with loose powder, it’s not something I use often – so I almost spilled the whole thing on myself when I opened it up! After I got that fixed up though, I noticed that it had a sifter on it which is supposed to help with the powder getting everywhere – and once I shook it all down some it seemed to help.

Next up was the blush and the bronzer. Since my cheeks, forehead and chin are often rosy I was really really worried that the pink blush would just add to the redness. But it honestly helped even it out a little bit and made it so I could extend my redness for lack of a better word. The bronzer was so silky to put on and was able to make the redness in my cheeks a lot less noticeable.

Normally I don’t wear eyeliner so I wasn’t too sure how to go about using the Gel Eyeliner that was included with this box.  I knew I wanted to go with a winged look or something like that so with that in mind I looked at a couple different tutorials online, in the end I ended up using The Perfect Cat Eyeliner Beginners Crash Course from Preen (if you click the link it’ll open in a new window).

Pictures with just the eyeliner on because WOOT for having my eyeliner game on point for being a noobie!

I think that looks pretty good. If I do say so myself!

Okay so then I just had to put the finishing touches on. The cream eye shadow I cannot say enough good things about. It was a shimmery gold color once I put it on, and honestly I feel like it will become a main stay in my make up routine, because it looks good with just about everything.

The lip gloss was just way to much of an orange-y red for my coloring though. (Even writing this I’m thinking of that dude from Project Runway who calls one of the other contestants pretencious because she’s like “It’s kind of a blood orange” and he’s like “Shut up it’s fucking red!” LOL)
Anyway for the sake of this review I put the Mango Tango lip gloss on and while I didn’t hate it, I didn’t love it either. It wasn’t tacky feeling like some lip glosses are, and it smelled amazing (like vanilla) BUT it did bleed a little bit and it did stain my lips after I wiped it off.

Final Verdict: Love the products. I will be looking to order more Mary Kay products in the future. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and the price. While it’s not drug store prices it’s also not something that is super outrageous that I would never pay. Plus it makes me look foxy as fuck. I’m pretty sure I will be adding the eyeliner into my daily routine from here on out, it really seems to make my eyes pop.

NOTE: Thanks to Influenster for sending me the products to try for free in exchange for a fair review. (Also please note that this review is from 2014)
